Yes, Jack is correct - grasshoppers are better bait, for fish, than crickets.

The legs fall off the crickets too easily. If you put your hook through one of the grasshoppers legs, with no sinker & cast into a billabong, they are great for catching cat fish (silver cobbler).

They sure don't like that hook in them & kick like blazes on top of the water. That attracts the fish.

I know this was a tongue-in-cheek question - so I'll probably cop a few downers for answering in this way!

They're ok, but grasshoppers are better. You've got this in the wrong category. This should be in fishing.
