Define "Recent"...

If you mean "within the past 10 years" - then NO!!!

But if you mean "within the past 1000 year" - then YES!!!

Thomas Edison invented the first practical incandescent lamp in 1879 - but the first attempt at an ARC LAMP (NOT a bulb, but similar concept) was in 1809.

in the light of the age of the world, yes, but in the age of the revolutionized world, not really, it is actually about 150-200 years old give or take.
