Expansion -- that's one word. Most other answers are two words or more! Settlement might be another word to describe the expansion of America's borders. "Stole" is a bit harsh, since most of it was purchased in one way or another. Unfortunately, the Indians had a different concept of land than Americans did. They regarded the payments as rent, while the Americans considered them a purchase price. This misunderstanding resulted in the term "Indian giver", and led to lots of violent conflict, which the Americans, due to their superior technology (guns vs bows and arrows) always won.
