wat are some good things abt rock music ???? like why do ppl listen to and why is it very popular !!

Rock Chick UK could not be more wrong. Rock and roll is a form of populist music that defied the traditional method of musicians requiring years of training to play music usually composed by others, and instead embraced the folk and blues tradition of amateur musicians writing and performing their own music. That there are some highly talented rock musicians is incidental. That is not what the genre is about. At its core, it is about anyone, regardless of race, creed, gender, class, or level of professional experience, being able to craft his own music on his own terms. On top of that, artificially limiting avenues of expression is silly. Why draw the line at computers when, just a few decades ago, the electric guitar was said to be purely temporary by those who thought it could never challenge the acoustic? Arranging tracks on a drum machine still requires knowledge of composition, which is every bit as important as manual skill, so what's the deal?

Songs often tell stories, and most people can relate to the lyrics. Also, it's real music and I think a lot of people respect that and are amazed by the skill these musicians have on the instruments. Rock music also has less swearing, so it appeals to a much wider variety of people. Finally, it has been around for a long time, and a lot of parents introduce it to their children at an early age.

Classic Rock--circa 1955 to 1988--brought us timeless anthems of defiance, teen angst,individualism, and STRAIGHT romance (and romantic rebellion). Bands of the Classic Rock era were not afraid to experiment with their sounds that set them apart from other bands--and as time (and studio techonology) went on, the better evolved their sound quality became. Even the album artwork spanning the late 60's, 70s and 80s even--all carry quality and style.

Alternative rock, unfortunately falls grossly short of being anything noteworthy or timeless. Every band sounds the same--best described as "chroma metal", and a new band today is good if they're remembered past a week. There's profound overkill on the rebellion / teen angst, "individuality" really is conformity masked and musical romantic themes are more bisexual and even gay/lesbian (as if we really need the platform of music to try and have society accept such lifestyles). Alternative rock studio quality is trashed--sounding like the albums are mixed/dubbed by lab monkeys zonked out on crack and meth. And Alternative rock CD artwork definitely is done by meth-heads.

So there's little wonder why all the major labels are seriously now re-thinking the marketing strategy of promoting (currently wasting $$$$) Alternative rock bands: Audiences are tired of the void eaten out by Alternative Rock.......the people DEMAND for their $$$$ quailty music---and that means a retro-return of the Classic Rock sound.

Dude it has real music. It doesn't just talk really fast and use the same beat OVER AND OVER again. It's original (in most cases) There are also soooo many different variates (Black metal, Power metal, classic rock, etc etc.) Also the guitar and other combos of the instruments just are more preferable to people. Also it feels good to head bang. Also it's like nothing else (Soft rock is crap in my opinion though) Believe me this is coming from a metal head.

Rock music is all about talent, real people playing real instruments. Most bands of today use computer equipment to create sounds. Theres nothing better than a real band.

The songs are easy to relate it aint talking bout "how many hoes"someone can get or just a repetitiveness of idiotic dances it has meaning and thats what make so many people like it.

Because they play their own instruments, are talented and I think its the most passionate genre of music today. Those bands that sing about real life, and topics that are dear to them we can relate to, and inspire to them.

a lot of people including me listen to it because we can relate or just because the lyrics aren't about getting high and having sex all the time and they have meaning unlike rap and pop.
