well,,, if your hard disk is almost full,, a lot of problems may arise, you might experiencing your computer slowing down, which is extremely annoying..
if you install a program that isn't compatible with your windows, or if it has a bug,, your computer will indeed crash or slowdown..additionally if u install a program that has a comfict with another program,, you will experience a system crash.. try to not use up all your space.. and don't install two programs that do the same thing because something bad MAY occur

It definitely can if you install too many programs which all load during boot up. To see what your computer is loading during bootup, first boot up (if you can) then go to Start, then Run, then type 'msconfig' and Enter. The Services and Startup tabs list items that have been installed and are constantly loaded and/or taking up memory. You may unselect some, many or all in the Startup folder safely (although you may stop good things like Antivirus from running.) Be careful when unselecting Services since many of them are parts of Windows operating system and may be required for basic things - like networking. You can always go back and select programs or turn services back on with the same tool.

You could pack your drive with programs if you wanted to. The trick is keeping it optimized as you download the software and make sure you don't use up to much of your ram on your start up.

All things being equal, NO..As long as they are valid programs for your O/S and, you install them in the safe mode. Also, the harddrive has to have lots of free space.

Well, if alot of them are running, and I have a whole bunch of IE browser windows open, and if I haven't rebooted for awhile. I usually just put it in "standby" when I am not using it. When it locks up, I have to reboot.
