Practice. You can get art books that teach you about lines and balance and perspective. You can do abstract and no-one can tell you it's not right because it came strictly from your head and your heart. By the way, you really don't have to know how to spell or write to be a good artist.

I've been drawing for since i was a kid and then and now its knowing what you should draw. some people just are not comfortable with portraits or figure drawing some are the opposite they don't like landscape or architectural. but you can do it well with practice. to get good just start with making yourself comfortable and loose. when I'm in my studio i drawl 10 or 20 drawling before i start to work. just to loosen up. practice with gesture drawings just get the basic mass and shape don't worry about line. just shape. these should be quick like 10 seconds quick. when i do it i use char-kole its messy but its smooth dark and i like how it can be manipulated with a cloth or kneaded eraser. after you get comfortable with that start making gestured line drawings to start adding definition to the drawings . these wont be highly detailed they should show mass the form specific points of interest and structure. if it is a person how they are standing where the weight is at and if its in proportion. practice this the most there are tricks to that just using the object to find size in relation to other parts. when you get comfortable with this start getting more detailed. these are the general ideas i use. I'm a painter and a run a small gallery when make a painting i draw tons of bad drawings before i make a painting . materials for painting get expensive so drawing is considerably cheaper so this is why practice is key.

It doesn't matter. Don't feel badly if you feel you can't draw. It may never look good to some people. But what i loved hearing is that you love it... keep going!!! Don't trace, though. It doesn't help much. A trick though, if you must, is to start noticing shapes (like simple squares and circles) that make up the picture. eventually trace less and less and try to use these shapes to make up the picture yourself. Just draw what you love and don't let anyone stop you. Drawing is fun, and you should do what you want!

I have a bad drawl, too. I used to live in Texas, and everyone says that Texans drawl the worst... I went to a speech therapist, but it didn't help much. I still drawl really bad.

The easiest way I find to draw well, is to take a picture of the subject. This way, I can see every minute detail, and color, contrast, texture, and so on. This will help a lot if you get a camera.
For abstract pieces, the sky's the limit. The simplest way is just start doodling, then think of what that doodle would look like flushed and finished.
Hope this helped.

you can try by going to art school or just create original designs. It really doesn't matter if its bad or not as long as its creative. I am ok at drawing since I draw better when I have an image that I want to draw. I usually can't draw a nice picture freehand either. I just draw anything

a drawl is something someone from the south has in their acccent. i.e. the southern drawl. you're referring to "DRAWING", which has nothing to do with drawling. you can't draw unless you first learn to write and spell.
