What's one band you think would have been absolutely perfect if one member wasn't in it or was replaced by another person?

Mine is Axl Rose... can't stand the guy. Well, GN'R wouldn't be perfect, but much better for me. Which makes me think, what if David Coverdale sang for GN'R?!?!?

Sex Pistols - Sid Viscious..........man couldn't play at all, great as a poster child for punk....but sucky musician

**just give Axl a lobotomy.........he might still be able to sing and then we can finally get Chinese Democracy

It might souns a tad off the wall but, their are a whole bunch of guitarists I'd like to see with Geddy Lee & Neal Peart.
All respect to Alex Lifeson, but can You imagine how awesome Rush would be with
The lightning neoclassical runs of Yngwie Malmsteen or Randy Rhodes?
The towering shred of Kirk Hammet?
The monstrous cascading chords of David Gilmour?
How cool would THAT be?

Happy Thanksgiving Sarah!

*Edit* Actually how would this be for a band?
Vocals: Jon Anderson
Guitars: Jimmy Page & David Gilmour
Bass: Geddy Lee
Drums: Neal Peart

I completely agree with Axl Rose. Another, for me, would be David Lee Roth. I also never liked John Densmore...but I think that has more to do with not liking him as a person rather than not liking him as a musician (though he isn't brilliant there either).

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving!

this kind of relates to your question....If Ted Nugent would leave his ego at home he could have produced some awesome music. The best songs he's ever done are with Derek St.Holmes on vocals. It seems that old Unkle Ted was worried about someone other than him getting attention so he would insist on stepping up to the mic himself or using the revolving door of vocalists. He had a great singer if he would eat as much of his pride as he does wild game.

I've wondered if I would have liked Journey without Steve Perry Or The Smashing Pumpkins without Billy Corgan.

i have been using this answer for a lot of questions today but it also applies to this one....
i would have to go back to drowning pool......dave williams the orginal singer was amazing.....after he passed away...he was replaced by people who could not even come close to the talent he had....i would say drowning pool would be perfect if it had its orginal singer dave williams again, instead of the unequal substitutions that have tried to take his place over the years.. :)

im not really a Lamb of God fan, but i watched their dvd, and the lead singer i guess sings well for the group, but is quite annoying.

Stone Temple Pilots -- i do love Weilend's talent, but if only he could have stayed clean, or at least clean-enough? the rest of the band is so talented. they did all have great chemistry though.

ok...I know a lot of people are going to disagree and hate me for this answer, but I think Nirvana would have been the absolute best without KURT ....
kurts voice bugged me to no end, but the rest of the band sounded great. I think with Kurt leading Nirvana, they were the most over rated no talent band to ever make a name for themselves.....

Well I think Geddy Lee is a great musician and bassist, but I think his voice sucks.. never liked his high pitched voice and screaming... it prevented me from being a true unconditional fan of Rush..... but in music as in all art forms, we have al subjective ideas and taste, so what may be dreadful for someone is great for another

and you?

are you serious? don't like Axl ? But he is the epitome of a rock n'roll bad guy!! I think he is a great show man and was attractive on stage. he used to dance so good, serpenting his body like a snake.... now he is 25 pounds heavier, so I think not so attractive anymore. I like his performance of Welcome to the Jungle, sweet child of mine and November rain.
