Newer cars have knock sensors and computers so that if you put a low octane gas (regular) in it, the computer will automatically adjust the ignition timing to compensate. The worst that can happen is that the engine doesn't have quite as much performance but it's doubtful you'd ever notice in ordinary driving. However, if you hear something that sounds like shaking marbles in a tin can when you accellerate, better back off on the throttle and get some premium gas.

At best: less power.

At worst: Knocking and pinging and permanent engine damage.

Don't do it.
