I worked in the restaurant and when i came to pick my pay check my manager deducted 150$ claiming that some customers complained and asked for refund due to my service. I remember clear that i have not done anything to cause such huge complains and as the matter fact they left me good tips. What should I do in this case, where should I go or call to claim my money back. What are my rights as the employee.

It depends on the law in your state or province. In Manitoba, that would be highly illegal, and the Labour Board would happily straighten that out. Call the board or equivalent in your jurisdiction for information that applies in your case.

Massachusetts is almost as liberal as CA when it comes to labor law. I'm pretty certain that a MA employer is no more allowed to make such a deduction than a CA one would be, but speak to a MA labor law attorney to check.

Depends on your state. If you're in California, you are in great hands. California is the most protective state of the worker, and you should contact the DIR DLSE (that is, the Department of Industrial Relations Division of Labor Standards Enforcement). I once filed a complaint with a former employer disputing $7.00, and was awarded $1507 after the employer denied guilt and we had a hearing. Good luck.

Does your state have a "labor relations board" to make a complaint to? It would be attached to the state attorney general's office in some way. This is illegal in most states, so you could complain.
