Dani: pickled chicken gizzards? I've seen fresh ones but never pickled....
There was a jar of Cow Brains... that was scary.

Beatle Fanatic: Happy Late Turkey Day to you too.
There is this method where you flame the whole pig and the skin turns orange and crunchy and it's very crunchy, but it sounds gross.....
Sarah N: Taro root ice cream probably sounds weird too :0)

I don't think it is the British only that have the problem, and I put it to being it is so easy to 'order out', and people have more money to spend on foods. Recently there was a Brit TV show where some of the best TV chef's were challenged to cook a meal against the meal that the invited 'couple' would order out. Price of ingredient, and time against delivery from the time they started, and the take out was ordered were two of the criteria they had to match, and like you would have expected they won on price, and almost time. I find I use a mixture of making my own sauces or buying a packet mix, mainly because I am a little lazy, or I like the taste that comes from the packet. example I get a packet of instant sweet mustard sauce that tastes far nicer than what I can make. I make a reasonably good copy but it just isn't the same.

Most of the "regional" food like cracklings (fried pig skin... my dad likes them) and pickled eggs and pig's feet would probably be considered strange or odd to people that haven't lived in the south very long.
Lotus roots are pretty strange, frozen or not. Then again, there's regional differences.

Speaking of food, Happy Bird Day to you Sarah.
Is there anything weirder than bags of pork rinds?
For years I've wondered who eats pig skin for a snack?
