Think of the whole number as a fraction. Any whole number is the same as that number divided by 1. 6 is the same as 6/1. Then multiply the 2 fractions. First the numerators: 5x6=30 and then the denominators: 6x1=6.
The answer is 30/6 which is the same as 5.

for multiplying any 2 fractions, just multiply the numerator (top #) of one by the numerator of the other. that will be the numerator of the answer.

then multiply the denominator (bottom #) of one by the denominator of the other, and that will be the denominator of the answer.

for example, 2/3 * 3/4 = 6/12

In Your Case: the number 6 is the same as the fraction 6/1. therefore multiply 5 by 6 for the numerator (you get 30) and 6 by 1 for the denominator (you get 6). you then come up with 30/6, which happens to equal 5.

Super easy:

to multiply fractions, multiply numerator times numerator and denominator times denominator -- but a whole number has a denominator of 1
6 = 6/1

So just multiply the whole number times the numerator of the fraction:

5/6 * 6 = (5*6)/6 = 30/6

then, of course, you have to simplify if you can

5/6 * 6 = 5

Think of a whole number as (that number) / 1 ex: 6 = 6/1

At that point you multiply the both the top numbers together and both the bottom numbers together.
5 * 6, 6 * 1 = 30/6

Then you can just reduce both sides down to 5/1

5/6*6 is the same as 5/6*6/1. 6 and 6 cancel out so then the problem becomes 5/1*1/1 =5/1=5

the answer is 5

you would do 5/6 x 6/1 giving you 30/6 which equals 5

an easier way to solve that problem in particular would be to cancel out the six's because 6 X 1/6 is equal to 1 so they cancel out giving you 5/1 or 5 as your answer

you can make the whole number a fraction also by placing it over 1.
5/6*6/1=30/6
or 5

change both into fractions: 5/6*6/1
then multiply the top two numbers and the bottom two numbers: 30/6
next, divide the numerator (or top number) by the denominator (bottom number):5
