What a great match. I really enjoyed it. It's great to see Sampras who can still stay with Federer at age 36. He's a bit slow now, but his volleys are still top notch. If he can play like this on the current tour, he can be in the top 5 easily. Glad to see these two guys had fun on court.

Ya know, I really enjoyed the 2nd match. In the first match, you could REALLY tell that Federer was just taking it easy.
Now first, I want to slap all the folks who use that annoying cop out "ish jus un xeebishun!!1" Look, it was still fun to watch, and I know y'all are tired of folks saying "Sampras can be ranked such and such!!" But you can't keep saying "Federer washint twying at AWL!!1"
The 2nd match was so fun to watch, Sampras was playing better, and they looked to make it more competitive. During the first match, it seemed like they were nervous. This time they put on a great show. I won't say "Pete shtill hash eet!" or "Federer wash jus playing awound!", but they put some skill out there this time.
I think if Federer was playing all out, the minimum amount of games Pete would win is probably 5, just because of his serve. But I don't think he can beat Rog. Nah. Still, it's so interesting to watch because Pete's style is like...a blast from the past. I mean if we don't watch these exhibitions, there's no telling when we'll EVER see a pure serve/volleyer again. And we'll never see a pure serve/volleyer against Rog. But these matches show what it might kinda look like if there was a good serve/volleyer on tour. It would be a different style of opposition for Rog to deal with. Right now he's just got baseliners.

I watched it on the Tennis Channel live and Pete really stayed neck and neck with Roger this time. The big difference was the court. It was super fast and the ball skidded through the court so it helped Sampras hugely on his serve and volley. He's not as good as Roger in generating his own pace and likes to block alot more. Seoul on the other hand was much slower which is why Roger won more easily. The Malaysian court reminded me of Wimbledon in the 90's, very low bouncing and fast. Pete played some brilliant power tennis and really was never troubled on his service games. It all came down to one or two points in the tie breaks, that's it. Nothing between them this time though Roger was clearly slowing his first serve down.

It wasn't a close match because Sampras is good, Federer could win in sweeps, but it's not nice for Sampras...it's an exhibtion.
Did u see what the croud did when Federer played a drop shot.

my friends in malaysia said that it was amazing! seeing the two "greats" slugging it out was a fantastic experience! sampras still has his game, but like what others have said, he can't run!!! if ever he goes back on tour (which i think is next to impossible), he will have a hard time with the young guns like nadal, djokovic, etc...

Was this in Malaysia? I thought it was South Korea.
Anyway, no I didn't see it, but I'll catch the highlights on youtube tomorrow. Federer has this way of just doing enough. I don't think he is trying to embarass Sampras.

I saw the match live on tennis channel. Federer (again) didn't assert himself as usual.. but this is an exhibition. You don't expect Fed to really treat it like a tournament. He just upped his game a tad bit during the tiebreaks to take them. Still entertaining and Sampras' serve is still blistering, but he can't run at all.
Sampras actually did a small impersonation of Sharapova & Nadal during one of his service games (same as Djokovic)..haha it was funny.

I saw the replay of the match in Seoul but haven't seen the one in Malaysia yet. They are going to play it again Friday afternoon on The Tennis Channel and I hope to watch some of that match too.

I cannot stand Samprass. I am so happy to hear that Federer whooped his hairy butt again! YES!
If Federer didn't win, we would never hear the end of Sampras' boasting. Hopefully he shut up once and for all.
Roger was being nice. He could have easily served that hairy apeman some bagles.
