I put in my fair share of holiday work...before I became a Stay at home Mom....so I know the feeling of being stuck at work instead of with my loved ones.
Peace.

I feel proud of them. They are the unsung heroes. I don't think that they work just for the reason that it's more money but they work on holidays for the call of duty. One thing that I have to be thankful for is these special people (military, police officers, doctors, nurses, prison guards and other workers ) who choose to serve us than spend the day with their love ones.

I'm with you GEM. Been there, done that. I actually felt good about working the holidays, though. Where I worked, we would always pitch in and bring different food items, and partake of them on our break. We all worked pretty well together as a team and got our work done, so we could go home to our families.

Every time a holiday comes around my dad usually insists on working at least a half day. I can't talk him out of it, he loves his work and he's actually needed on holidays. I respect everyone who works during a holiday so the rest of us can feel secure with our day off.

Yes, I feel badly for them. I've done my share.
This new job is wonderful. We don't work holidays.
If we open it's usually the students!
I love my boss!
I'm very grateful to all those who work and serve us each and every holiday!

Yes, I do. As a matter of fact, our cable went out earlier today, and all I could think of was that the poor cable workers would have to come out to fix it just so we could watch football today. : ( I didn't even call to report the outage. I knew others would, but it made me feel a little better knowing they didn't have to come out because of me. Does that make sense?

I'm working today, but my main job is in quality control!
I am, however, also grateful for the ones in the lines of work you mentioned.

Sometimes I feel sorry for people who have to work on holidays... but I've done it myself... sometimes they get paid pretty handsomely to work holidays... I've volunteered to work holidays, and other times I had no choice.
