Spraying freshener or putting talcum powder would help, however, it's not enough.
Sometimes fresheners couldn't kill all the bacteria that collects in your shoes, so it is best to wash your shoes and dry it under the heat of the sun, and not on a heater... bacteria living in damp and cold places like under your shoes can't live long under the heat of the sun. If you just use a dryer to dry it up, these bacterias have special shield that make them resilient to the temporary heat. Later on, they'll be alive and kicking, pestering your shoes again.
These organisms are the prime suspect of the bad smell your feet is producing.
Most importantly, always remember to wash your feet every after taking off your shoes. Dry it up, then apply talcum powder. Make sure it is very dry before putting them on the shoes again.
God bless!

Aw, this isn't gross compared to alot of other things. :) This is normal.
When I play soccer or other sports, my feet don't smell too bad, but they smell a bit. I just sprinkle talcum powder or baking soda in my shoes (whatever I have available) and have a shower after everyday (most of the time, I have a shower in the morning and at night). That also helps to keep the smell down.
Oh and if you can, throw your shoes in the washer & dryer. Some shoes can't go in, however. (Running shoes without ALOT of rubber on them can go in the washer). OOOH, and use sunlight or ABC (with bleach in the soap - DO NOT MIX BLEACH IN THE WATER - use the detergent that already has bleach in it), and then yeah. The smell should be gone out of your shoes. Just do that. Not too often, or else you'll have to buy shoes every 4 months if you do.
Anyways, sorry this is a pretty vague answer. Just too much to write.
Love Shelley

Always air out your shoes, let them dry after dance. Don't keep them in the bag all the time. Having more than one pair of shoes helps too - this way you give it a chance to dry.
If your shoes are washeable - wash them. If no - it gets a little more difficult. But a spray called Fresh Again really helps. I think you can find it online. I treat my shoes and ballgowns with it. After the dance class is over, go to the bathroom and wipe your feet with a damp towel. It won't make your feet perfectly clean, but it's good enough. Bring extra socks with you.

This is kinda strange but my friend claimed this worked for her. Every day she ate an orange at lunch and saved the peel. After dance she would put the peel in her shoes and leave it there overnight. She said her shoes never smelled.

Many people have problems with foot odor, others don't so it must be related to body chemistry or perspiration amounts. Visit a pharmacy and look for medicated foot powders and sprays that are designed to combat the problem. Use an antibacterial soap or foot wash too, and if you must wear socks, use all cotton or look for those designed to eliminate perspiration. Switch the shoes you wear daily allowing the ones you wore to dry after you spray them or sprinkle powder in them.

Sprinkle talcum powder, or may baking soda, and spray with fabreez, but i mean if that doesn't work then maybe you'll just have to buy shoes more often, that's how it is for me, but talcum powder really helps!
