This all seems such a load of rubbish, as if not wearing his uniform is going to solve anything.
Heard on the news today, George Bush himself was speaking, that he totally backs Musharraf. Why? It's not that long ago we were all told that al Qaida were training there,in camps & that osama bin Laden was hiding there! In Pakistan.
Is it because Pakistan is not far away from Iran?
What do you think?

The change in clothes won't matter. It's his actions that the world will be watching.

Bin Laden (if still alive) is more than likely hidding in the mountains that borders Afganistan and Pakistan, he's built a lot of support there since the Afgan war with the USSR. Those native to that region treat him as almost god-like and will not give him up.

Bush will continue to back Musharaff because of Pakistan's tenous co-operation with the US these past few years, also, Musharaff has the power to keep the country from going into turmoil/civil war. We do not need another Iraq in that region.

Musharraff has been an ally of the war against terror; and against Al Qaida. This is why Bush is backing him. And even Pres. Bush is the Commander in Chief of the armed services. But the US President is not a member of the military; this is the difference.
If Musharraff wears civilian clothes, but still functions as a military leader, of course, the situation will not have changed, and any election results will be suspect. But if he truly gives up his military position and runs as a civilian, it gives democracy a chance in Pakistan.
