I am thankful for everything I have.
I'm thankful for having friends that make me laugh and give me happiness. Without them, without the stupidest random midnight conversations, without the dumb inside jokes and pointless adventures, I would be nothing.
I'm thankful for all the sadness that I have experienced in my life. Without all the sorrow, all the pain, all the fear, and all the hurt, I wouldn't appreciate life for how great it really is. Without it all, I would never have ended up as happy today as I am now.
I am thankful for having my family, however silly, random, and out of place we may seem to others. They're the people I know will love me forever, and whom I shall love forever. I am thankful for my sister, whom regardless of all the years of arguing and fighting, we will still always remain sisters and remember those few moments of clarity and happiness that we had shared together. I am thankful for my father, who even though I take him for granted everyday, still goes out and provides for the family that I know he loves more than anything. I am thankful for my wonderful mother, who I know has loved me ever since she was 9. Ever since she was old enough to be able to imagine me, her future daughter. She had no standards for me, no wants, no needs, except that I be healthy and that I was hers. My dear mother who has loved me before she even knew me. Before I ever learned to speak, before I ever took my first breath, before I became who I am today. That kind of love isn't the kind that can be broken, no matter what stupid thing I may end up doing. (And believe me, there's many stupid things yet to come). I am thankful for her love that I will always appreciate.
I am thankful for so many other things as well, which would take forever to type out. I am thankful for being alive today, being healthy, being regular me.
And perhaps on any other day I would have wished to be someone else.
Someone more glamorous.
Someone richer.
Prettier.
More popular.
But for today, (and I will hold on to this feeling for as long as I can), I am thankful for being exactly who I am today.

I am thankful to have a house to live in and my retirement and disability incomes. Four years ago at this time, I had none of these, just a tiny and ancient Winnebago. For two people and a dog, it was not much room. Freezing cold winters trying to keep warm with insufficient heaters. People not wanting 'riff raff' like me parking in their lots or public streets. There are some fine people in the world and there are many who are not. The occasional feeling of freedom was great, but then again, "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." I am thankful for greater understanding of myself and people in general that I feel I've acquired after several years of a rockier and bumpier life than I was accustomed to.

At 58 I was going to say "being alive"! Truth is I am thankful for the life I now lead. I have good friends and a lifestyle of beach-combing, golf ball collecting and messing about in boats. I live alone yet my children and friends make sure I aint lonely! Truth! Thankful you asked this question!

i'm thankful that I am driven. When I'm knocked on my a$$, i shake it off and get right back up. I spent many years wallowing in my own depression, but have since learned that life is constantly changing...
