Israel was created by a moronic UN resolution (which it's a redundancy) after WWII and later supported by a (pretty much) private army.
It was seen as a compensation for jews after the holocaust. It's usually justified referring the Bible (or the Tora) because god gave that land to the people of Israel.
Imagine that after 3 thousand years you go back to the place where you think your ancestors lived and take the land based on that. And the people that lived there for all those 3 thousand years ask you where did you get that from. And you answer "Oh! this book? we wrote it?"

But, going back in time, which country was "legally" founded? Which country can say "we never took land from others", "we never violated the rights of others", "we never fought a war to be here"? You have to look real hard to find one.

The fact is that, after 60 years, the argument is irrelevant. Besides the three generations that passed by over that period of time, Israel has become an oasis of western civilization in a part of the world where life is typically a hundred years behind (and more than that). For the people living in the borders, Israel is an opportunity to get stuff they can't in their own countries and and opportunity to work with better compensation than in their own countries.

It doesn't matter if we agree to its existence or not. They're there now, we can't go back in time to fix it and there's no reasonable solution. You can't take them all out of there, you can't eliminate them. They have been successful in living there and progressing there. Regardless of who was responsible for it, probably the whole world is (or was at that time).

It's time to leave Israel solve its own problems. A huge part of the war and violence there is generated by third party intervention. If they go to a war involving all the middle east, so be it. It's going to be over sooner or later. The interventionists solutions have been keeping the war going on for 60 years. Interventions never ever stopped a war, it can't be done. You have to take one side or fight against both. Peace treaties never worked, not a single one worked. They are just paper, sometimes not even good intentions on paper.

Leave Israel alone, they're going to solve their own problems or die trying.

Because it does.

Now that may seem to be too basic, but if you think about it, it is not too dissimular from people. For example, if I was never born, then whether I should exist or not would be moot. Since I was born and do exist, having an argument about whether I should exist seems pointless since I clearly do.

Same with Israel. There is no other country (to my knowledge) that has more problems with the basic fact that there are sizable groups of people in the world that refuse to acknowledge its existence. They prefer to call it the "Zionist entity" since "State of Israel" is "too dirty" for them to utter, despite the fact that it exists.

Does Canada or anyone else spend their time arguing whether Canada should exist? To even ask the question will get you some very strange stares. Then why ask about Israel?

Hay Max, if Israel has the right to exist so does Palestine both nations were created by the same UN resolution.
The world issue with Israel is Israeli leaders want to keep occupying land that was never part of Israel and there is not one single nation in clouding the USA is willing to recognize that land is part of Israel.

The country deserves existence only if it can find a way to exist.

All of you religious nuts who think Israel has a divine purpose in the History of Earth: Please, for your own sake, read the Bible. Israel never held the temple grounds. Judah did. Judah was the country invaded by Hammurabi, after he destroyed the tribes of Israel, which was North of Judah. The Jews in Jerusalem (again, what was part Judah) we taken to Babylonia after the destruction of the first Temple, and that is when the Old Testament was written. When the Jews were exposed to the new culture of Babylonia and wer exposed to the idea of written law. It is Judah, not Israel, that must be re-established and rebuild the temple. The country Israel is irrelevant, because you would have to also find the 10 lost tribes (so far NONE have been "found") before anything could happen, and, even then, their country would not have to go by the name of Israel.

I apologize for ranting, however, stupidity can get on my nerves.

Certainly it should exist-when created the Jewish people really had nowhere to go that they could call their own. The problem is that, primarily because of religious landmark considerations, they chose that particular geographic location, right in the middle of people with whom they will probably never get along (to say the least.) A less problematic location would have been far more preferable and saved the Jews and the rest of the world a lot of headaches.

They have every right to exist. First off they got their legally, even before Israel became a country Jews migrated there and bought property from Arabs, then they suffered massacres and discrimination while Britian did nothing. Then the UN gave them the country and they have fought several wars just to survive. They have every right to exist as much as the US.

Israel has the same God given right as the US to exist. Israel has the same God given right as Iran to exist. Israel has the same God given right as Syria to exist. Israel has the same God given right as Palestinians to exist.

I think there are two totally different questions that are important here.
1) Should Israel have been created - probably not
2) Should it continue to exist given that its been around for 60 years - I believe so

The Romans exiled them 2,000 years ago they should not be allowed to go back on a bogus promise from Yahwe or the British to allow a Zionist state. ( The Brits had no right ) who also prom missed the the same to the Palestinians and the land was called Palestine.

The Jews come in use Terrorism to get the Brits out..e.g They blew up The King David Hotel killing over 90 innocent people and the guy behind it Menechem Begin became Prime Minister as did other Jewish terrorists.

Then went to war with owners of Palestine, changed the name to Israel and now...They are the new Nazis

They have stolen the land of the Palestinians, Driven them into Concentration camps, Shoot on site 100's of their children, built a wall to separate them from their humble farms and olive groves, schools and Hospitals.

Bulldozed their homes and built Jewish Settlements in their place.....Or just destroyed them while they are inhabited..murdering many.

Illegally occupied their land and property, destroyed, pissed and excreted ( literally ) on their historical and social records...

Set up checkpoints ( which I have seen ) where dozens of Palestinian women die, miscarry or give birth as they are refused to attend hospitals.

Humiliate Palestinians in their own land. As the Nazis did to them....Imprint numbers on their arms....

Carry out a systemic policy of GENOCIDE.

Refuse access to 1000's more Palestinians in need of Medical Treatment Cut of supplies of medicines, food and equipment to Gaza...To where they have been driven into Squalor, abject Poverty and constant Fear and Terror from Israel.

Destroyed their economy and made them slaves of Israel without the rights of an Israeli Jew or even a dog.

Continuously use Snipers, Tanks, Helicopter Gunships, F-16s and heavy artillery against impoverished people ( thanks to Israel ) Target women and Children with sniper power, shot down Palestinian protesters who are armed with stones who are only asking for 22% of their land back.....and who have offered that the Jews can keep 78% of what they have stolen.

But sadly the Israelis want it ALL because YHWE promised it to them.

There are too many unspeakable atrocities that the Israelis commit daily. If Americans really new what is going on they would want to Invade Israel to save the Palestinians who are the rightful owners of Israel. ( Palestine ).

Half my family is Jewish..BTW....I'm ashamed to say...Yes they suffered in the Holocaust but did that need to make them become the Nazis of the Middle East.

Israel does exist, but Palestine has been wiped off the map.
