Dang, that sucks. You're going to have to find a way to raise some cash. Do you have anything you can sell on EBay? A grandmother you can do some chores for? I've sold tons of stuff on Ebay, and it sells rather quickly so you can try that first.

But in regards to your mom's reaction, maybe she just figures that you're now old enough to buy your own pass since you spent so much on the gear. You need to talk to her when she is in a good mood and tell her how important it is to you to be able to go up there and snowboard with her (while she skis). That might do the trick. Or you could try the, "snowboarding is good for me, keeps me healthy, and out of trouble. You don't want me to end up pregnant because I was bored and there was nothing better to do." ;) Actually I wouldn't try that last one....

Sorry, but instead of being mad at your mom you need to use your mental energy to try to figure out a way to get a pass.

Call her bluff. Tell her you know that she used to pay for her pass when you skied, and now that you snowboard she is being jealous and immature by trying to deprive you of something you enjoy because she wants to force her own values on her, without any logic. Tell her how this typically leads to young people resenting their parents and eventually getting into problems. Tell her it's fine that she won't buy you this, but that you will remind her of it forever, and she will eventually be the one to pay the price and it will be far more expensive than $400. When she asks you "what will the price be?" Look at her a bit confused and asked her how many "parenting" classes she missed while you were growing up. Act completely emotion-free when discussing it and when she starts to get upset tell her "you made your choices, I can't fix it now". The key is not to be upset or emotional when explaining it, it will kill her. You'll have your pass within 24 hours.

Sorry that sucks...look on the bright side, maybe she's looking to set you up w/ a new car for Xmas instead. :0)

Just play it cool and don't throw a fit b/c I'm pretty sure it won't help you get your pass. Plus if you really want to go, throwing down another $40 doesn't sound too bad compared to letting $1200 go to waste.

This what grownups call "budgeting". Look at your resources and make sure that your expenditure does not exceed your resources.
