i know this is old but you guys know about the whold michael vick situation (well most of you) I was watching something on cable tv a couple of months ago and this guy was killing reindeer just to get it's antlers. I was just thinking that if this guy can actually go on television and kill these animals, why isn't he punished? but michael loses his football career for a dog fight. that isn't fair.
i know this is old news but it just got to thinking.

someone said that hunter had legal rights and michael vick did. so just because it's legal does that make it right? he's killing animal for no reason, not saying what michael vick did was right but let's atleast be fair.

I have basically remained silent on this situation, but I agree with you. It's not old news to me....it's still perplexing news.

I'm not a animal hater, and I wouldn't do anything to torture an animal, and I've also heard of animal cruelty stories and nothing was ever done. Hunting whales is especially cruel even for research. Killing babies is the womb is also cruel, because the babies can feel it, but that's not punishable anymore.

It seems like it's just not politically correct to support Michael Vick, but I'm also scratching my head at the inconsistencies with this case.

It really has nothing to do with "the man out to get certain people..."

In all reality, it has to do with the legallity of both situations.

1. Michael Vick was knowingly running an ILLEGAL dog fighting ring. It is obvious that he knew he was going to be up $#!% creek with out a paddle.

2. The other guy was (assumingly if he's on televison) LEGALLY hunting a deer, during the hunting season, with the proper equipment. How can you assume that he was not going to eat the meat (also known as venissen in the hunting world)?

If you say that is wrong, then are you also saying killing cows for meat or pigs for meat is also wrong?

Where do you think the meat came from that is on your kitchen table on a plate tonight??

One is legal, the other is not.

That's because the reindeer hunt was a legal hunt.

Michael Vick was illegally fighting dogs and torturing them and killing them, or at least that was all going on on his property and with his knowledge.

Dogs are genetically programmed to be predators. Fighting and attacking prey is a natural activity for them. So even they may get hurt performing the activity, they are doing what they "want" to do. Isn't a dog "happy" while chasing a rabbit? Isn't he "happy" when he catches it? Is it cruel to the rabbit? Dogs are pack animals where fighting for dominance is a natural part of life. Why is it illegal to allow them to do in captivity what they do freely in the wild?
Except for males fighting for breeding rights and females protecting their young, deer are not naturally aggressive. So by hunting and killing them would seem to be more reprehensive than killing a predator like a dog which is programmed for violence.

lets see, its called a hunting license. as long as the state sells a license for it i can kill it.its like coon hunting, the dog runs after the coon put it up a tree then i shoot it out of the tree and the dogs finish the kill.its like rabbit hunting the dog chases the rabbit i shoot the rabbit and some times the dog kills the rabbit. like trapping its cruel but i have a license from the state and its fun trapping coon , fox, mink, . but in Michael Vick situation there no license for dog fighting and its against the law, that's the bottom line.......

I have asked many hunters this same question. they all have the same answer, "we eat what we kill". The problem is, they use rifles that can shoot 1/4 of a mile, with scopes that measure factors such as wind speed, etc. And unless it is an instant kill, that deer suffers as much as the dogs that Vick killed. So why hunters can kill and torture animals and it is okay by the standards of society, and Vick loses his career, and ends up in jail, is a mystery. It has nothing to do with gambling. It is probably because he is a very rich black man, and well, in this white country, we can't let too many black people become successful now, can we?

Because Micheal Vick generates liberal biased media publicity and some hunter in BFE doesn't.

So if you saw two beings dangling over a cliff, one is a human, the other is a chimpanzee, and you only had time to save one, there would be any question in your mind regarding whether or not to save the human? Human beings have friends and families that love and depend on them.
