Getting gas in the oil? Simple but all too common problem with small engines! The float valve in the carburetor isn't closing off the fuel when the engine isn't running, the fuel is flooding the carburetor and running into the cylinder. The fuel then runs by the rings into the crankcase polluting your oil supply. Rebuild or replace the carburetor and the problem will be resolved!

My guess is that the piston rings are worn out so during the compression part of the cycle some of the gas/air mixture is blowing by from the comustion chamber to the crankcase.

One other more remote possibility, some of these small engines have a vent tube between the crankcase and the carberator air intake to collect and re-cycle any gas vapors from the crankcase oil; maybe it's plugged.
