Yes.
We have to let rational science deliver us from the irrational emotional religious dark ages. I thought we'd had an age of enlightenment. Looks like we need another one.

Firstly, I think that many people are confusing stem cell research with pure cloning. I am in favor of stem cell research, but I don't think pure cloning is reasonable at this time because we are not responsible enough to curtail its misuse.
For the purposes of altering human DNA in order to produce 'super human' minds is also equally irresponsible in that we do not know what effect it will have on those altered or on society at large.
Stem cell research is however vital in the treatment of many ailments that medicine currently faces and in the prevention of genetic birth defects and it is in those areas that I feel we should proceed.

The research and discoveries that could be done from stem cells - without killing anyone, but taken from umbilical cords and the like - could save lives, now and in the future. If we could help cure diseases that affect millions of people, why would we not do such a thing?
And as far as people who say it's unnatural, and these diseases are here for a reason and it isn't our place to cure them... If you were suffering from one I think you'd feel differently. AND isn't it just as unnatural to help yourself with a Tylenol when you get a headache?
But yes, I think stem cell research could change the world. for the better.

I think it is alright if it is used to treat maladies and genetically related disorders. I think it is good for growing new skin for burn victims, or those disfigured in some other way, I think it would be beneficial to have new organs available for those who need them, I think it is a useful gift for prolonging and making life better for those who would otherwise suffer. But, when using it in a way that is transparently "for profit" and under circumstances where it's use would be immoral, illegal and inhuman, I disagree with it's use. When a group of researchers are able to find ways to make life good or better, it is usually followed by a group looking to capitalise off of it. FFS, can we find a cure for cancer? birth defects? down syndrome? depression? character disorders that enable people to carry out heinous acts? the frickin' common cold? vitiligo? Come on, let's take care of what is priority and humanitarian before worrying about ways to keep celebs from ageing. People are what matter, not the profit!

Yes we should its not the choice of other people or the govt if we should use an embryo to study stem cell research but that of the pregnant mother and if your gonna be getting an abortion why not donate the embryo for study....it can overall save the lives of millions in the near future

Embryonic stem cell can help with diseases and repair damaged livers or kidneys. Is still in the process of being perfected and there are other forms of stem cell. Just yesterday, scienticists can use skin cells to help fight diseases. I think we should use all forms of stem cell research to achieve our potential and make a difference in humanity.

I don't believe in using Stem Cells to enhance the human mind, rather, but to save humans who are dying and need them.
We have technogoly that should be used to save lives, not to make us some sort of super-human.

Since none of the stem cells are derived from VIABLE embryos, I am in favor of stem cell research.
But I thing you need to brush up on evolution - at least the concepts derived form Darwin.

Stem cell research sounds reasonable enought, so did genetically modified crops and what happened?
Bees don't like it, hence the gradual disappearance of bees especially in the USA.
Is that what the wise researchers wanted?
