I don't think adding Torii Hunter puts the Angels over the hump in being able to beat Boston. The Red Sox lineup is simply too powerful and efficient. Hunter is a nice add for his speed and defense but he is no Manny or Lowell. Starting pitching-wise, the angels may have a chance but jered weaver must mature more and ervin santana must step up. I also think the red sox bullpen is still a little better than the angels' bullpen. If the angels somehow get miguel cabrera then I would say they have a good chance in beating boston.

Baseball isn't like that...there are no such thing as "upsets" in baseball because not one team hardly ever has a undefeated record like the Patriots, or the Dolphins. The year is so long for ballplayers and the year is so losing for ballplayers. Teams lose most in baseball and losing is so popular in baseball.

Back on the question, yes any team is good enough to beat Boston, because Boston only had 16 sweeps last season. I say "only" because if everyone thinks the Angels can't beat Boston once...Then 16 sweeps is really bad for a team. So yes I'm guessing the Red Sox will at least lose 5 this year to the stacked Angels, they are a very good baseball team.

I'm a Yankees fan and saying I dislike both of these teams is an understatement! But hey I'm also an objective guy and in my humble opinion the Red Sox are still a much much better team than the Angels.

I don't understand the Garland trade unless they plan to make a trade for Miguel Cabrera.

Torii Hunter is an above average hitter, but he isn't the impact bat the Angels need. He is also great with his glove, but this season he turns 33 and won't be getting any faster in the outfield. I think this is a good fit, but it makes them look like fools for signing Gary Matthews Jr. last winter.

The Red Sox still have a superior lineup and at least an equal or better pitching staff than the Angels.

well i am a diehard redsox fan however i am also an objective fan and can admit faults of my team. the angels sure now have a better outfield but thats really about it. when post season rolls around the name of the game is pitching. the sox have the best postseason pitcher in history in curt schilling and the best current post season pitcher in beckett. they have pretty good middle relief (i do think some work needs done there) and a lights out closer. plus the hitting of the sox is just brutal aside from the fickle jd drew there are not a lot of holes there. the angels are a contender though for sure but are a few steps away from being a truly dominant force.

They are good enough to win some games over Boston, but in a postseason series, Boston would still win.

In the end it comes down to "are the angels good enough to make it to the post season".

If you answer yes, then a 7 game series is STILL a crap shoot.
Colorado, who had to win 16 out of 17 games to get there, still went 3 series deep with a rather poor team.

Contrary to popular opinion, anything can happen in 7 games.

Not even close. RED SOX hitters own ANGELS pitching and owned WHITE SOX pitching. Torii Hunter is good but even if they did get A-ROD the ANGELS still wouldn't be better than the RED SOX. The RED SOX pitching staff will be even better in 08' than it was in 07' especially if the deal goes through for Johan Santana that the Boston Herald just reported they were working on!!!
