3+4x=9x+13 subtract 4x from both sides
3+4x-4x=9x-4x+13 cancels out the 4x on left side and add 9x-4x
3=5x+13 subtract 13 from both sides
-13+3=5x+13-13
-10=5x divide by 5 on both sides
-10/5=5x/5
-2=x the answer to x
x=-2

you want to put all the number on one side and all the variables on the other so...
3+4x=9x+13
goes to -10+4x=9x
then -10=5x
so 2=X!!!
