God and our founding fathers for having the wisdom of including Him in the conception of our great nation.
Our soldiers here and abroad.
Our president for having the strength to follow though on his convictions.
The Iraqi government for welcoming us and democracy into the planning of their new nation.
Our allies who have stood by us and rallied behind us.
There is so much to be thankful for.....
"It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor."—George Washington in his first Presidential Proclamation, October 3, 1789

Hi Tucomena, This is a most welcome question on a bit of a gloomy day - it's forcing me to sit down and consider all the wonderful things in my life, and to stop focusing on the couple of horrid little things that have happened this afternoon. Here goes: 1. All the fantastic people in my life - my daughter, my wonderful group of friends - including you and the handful of other Y!A folk I've grown to love over the last 18 months. 2. My creativity - I'm so thankful to be blessed with writing and musical abilities. 3. My independence - being able to scrape a living here in my own bookshop, and not having to answer to a boss! 4. The breathtaking beauty of the natural world, especially the plethora of wildlife (I'm a frustrated David Attenborough type, if you didn't know already!) And the #1 animal in my life is our gorgeous marmalade-and-cream cat Ben! He's my Fatty and I love him :o) I could ramble on for ages, but I'd better stop at four! Hafwen xoxox

God (to think that there is no Higher Power than man is arrogance) and all He has done for me(if you want the details I'll tell you about over a pint).
My family for molding me into the person I am.
My brothers and sisters in service. I might have left the military but you are still in my thoughts and prayers.
Arthur Guinness. There are three things that are a constant or near constant: God's perfectness, man's depravity, and getting a good to great pint of Guinness.
Cheers,
A.C.

Writing from England, I say 'General Eisenhower.'
An embattled nation possessing ancient virtues, common to both our countries, was saved in 1941 from the vices and aggression of a continental tyrant, by the courageous might and simple wisdom of the USA.
