My sister is having twin girls. She wants to name them Madelyn Grace and Charlotte Rose. Their nicknames would be Maddie and Charlie. Do you think these are good names and is Charlie too masculine for a girls name?

I love them but I don't like Charlie on a girl. Maybe Charlotte nickname Lola or Lottie or Carly or Callie? I think Charlie is too masculine with Maddie.

Good names and I am guess she knows she is having two girls.... what about nicknames being Grace and Rose???

I dont knwo I never had to name children before since I have none and don't plan on ever having any. So it is up to the parents unless she has asked you to help with naming them....

My sister has a two boys, one is called by his name the other is Kalvin, but most of us call him Kalvie or something like that I am not sure how it is spelled but that is what we call him...
and they are so precious to have. I love them dearly.

Congrads on becoming an aunt,, and try not to spoil them too much..... ;) I know it can be hard but a little spoiling can't hurt too much... and if you want to do something really nice for them.... get a saving account started or a saving bond or CD. Something they can't touch, but that you can add money to for special occasions. and that they have access to when they are old enough to go to college. Just another thought even thought that wasn't part of the question....

but no I don't think Charlie is too much of a masculine name, because names that used to be strictly boy names are now used for both genders....

I don't like the name Madelyn OR Grace, but 'Maddie' sounds cute.
And I DO like the name 'Charlotte Rose' but don't like 'Charlie'.
Charlie is more commonly used for guys, I have heard of girls named Sam, Cris, etc. but never Charlie, she WILL be teased. And even for a boy, I dislike that name.
Charlotte is one of my favorite girls' names. Charlie or Lottie would ruin it.
They aren't bad ideas but just not my type.
I would keep Charlotte (without nicknames) and definitely change Madelyn Grace. Maybe Madison instead? (Charlotte & Madison)

Those are sweet names -- I love them! Two considerations... Maddie is a very common name right now, though it is usually short for Madison, not Madelyn. And as a nickname for Charlotte, she could use Lottie -- it's very old-fashioned sounding, but I think it's cuter than Charlie.

I like both names a lot, but I dislike the spelling Madelyn. I'd ask your sister to use the traditional spellings of Madeline or Madeleine.

Charlie is a good nickname, but I prefer Lottie as a nickname for Charlotte.

Both names are too common for me, but I'm just glad to see they aren't matchy or rhyming names.

I hate nicknames - if their proper name won't even be used, then just name them Maddie and Charlie... I don't see the point of a formal name that's not going to be used.

Yes Charlie is too masculine for a girl
How about Madelyn and Marlyn?

I think they're adorable. Charlie sounds like the name of a quirky, likeable girl from a movie. I like it lots. ^^
