Because they do not want to spend money helping the poor.
For the record, the UK was involved in the development of MRI technology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Mansfield , the first commerically viable CT scanner was made in the UK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computed_tomography#History and endoscopic/telescopic surgery also involved other countries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endoscope#History
First, the USA has amongst the highest rates of infant mortality in the western world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate along with one of the lowest life expectancy rates as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy which is strange as healthcare in the US actually costs more than in the UK.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare#Economics
In the UK, you are not limited to waiting months for treatment. Just like you can in the US, you have the option of private health care as well, in addition to treatment on the NHS.
But going back to the question, the reason Republicans are doing this is a result of Sicko http://www.conservapedia.com/Sicko which compared the UK health system to the US. The facts are simple. If you have private health care, you get treatment quickly in both the US and the UK. If you do not have private health insurance, you get treatment in the UK, and only emergency treatment in the US.

Because they hate Micheal Moore and they figure to bash it they also bask the movie Sicko as they have no idea how to provide medical help to every american. they look at Cuba and its successes despite not been able to get medicines made in the US and go crap we have a failing health system and think we are the most wealthy nation on earth and have people going they cannot get a broken arm fixed right as it costs to much.

the NHS is the third largest employer in the world after the Chinese army and Indian railways. the reason they don't like it is because its publicly funded and hugely expensive which means taxes have to increase and it uses money which could be spent on other right wing stuff like the military or training dogs to chase poor people.

Very few Republicans know what NHS stands for. But if it is a government entity "it must be bad." They won't let facts get in the way

Because your NHS is in ruin and they don't want the same fate for Americans.
I wouldn't change our "health care system" -whatever that is supposed to mean - to your ridiculous method ever.
Wake up morons. You people pay twice what Americans pay for health insurance - its just taken out of your paycheck in taxes instead - and Americas quality of care is far better than yours. Tens of thousands of people from all over the world come to America each year to be treated for disease or have surgery. If your system is so great then tell me why your countrymen flee to America for their "health care".
Anyway, I for one couldn't care less about your HCS and what you people do is up to you. And dont try and flip this argument by saying "why do Americans bash our NHS". Honey, we don't care one way or the other. It is you people who seem to occupy yourselves with bashing AMERICAS medical associations.
You know...those institutions that gave us MRI's, CAT scans, telescopic surgery, virtually all the info we have about AIDS and Cancer - with some cures and treatments - and still others.
Anyway, just keep on sitting in those 6 month waiting lines for basic surgery and check-ups. Your system is working great!

Why do people give thumbs down to Job1000 for asking a legitimate question... that's what's wrong with people these days...
This site is to help people answer questions - not make them sorry they asked.
