PCl3: Draw P. On three sides of P put x for valence electrons of P. On the fourth side of P put xx. Next to each x put Cl. Between P and each Cl put * for vaklence electron of Cl. On the other three sides of each Cl put **.

C2: This is the acetylide ion, (-)CtriplebondC(-). Draw 2 C's a little far apart. Between each C put *** and xxx. These are valence electrons of the different C's. At the end of one C put *o. At the end of the other C put xo. The o's are electrons that were gotten from some metal atom. The o's are responsible for each C's having a (-) charge.

CN: This is cyanide ion, (-)CtriplebondN. Handle it the same way as acetylide above.

N2S3: Draw S N S N S a little apart. Put ** on three sides on the first S, the top and bottom of the second S, and three sides of the third S. These are S valence electrons. Put xx on the top and bottom of the two N's. These are N valence electrons. Between the first S and N put xx. Between that N and the middle S put x*. Between the middle S and the next N put x*. Between the second N and the third S put xx.

HSF: Draw H S F. Between H and S put ox. Between S and F put x*. On top and bottom of S put xx. On three sides of F put **.

SeO2: Draw O Se O. Between each O and Se put **xx. Put xx on the top and bottom of Se. Put ** on three sides of O.
