The writer's strike apparently won't really hit soap operas until January because they are written so far in ahead. They have scripts until January.

although all the soap writers are on strike soaps film up to 6 weeks in Advance of their airing and reports are that most have scripts stocked piled into january-but should the strike go into feb there could be problems- the producers themselves may have to write the show- most soaps have storyline arcs several months in advance so just the actual scripts themselves have to be written.
Many actors are supporting the stike by joining the pickett lines- who knows what the actorw would do if the producers write the scripts or they hire non union writers

I saw information on line that most soaps had shows into January already filmed and would only be affected if the strike continued until that time or after. I also read that the longest strike was 5 months. I'm hoping that it won't be that long and who knows what plots they may come up with for future episodes.

In most cases, storylines are written 6 weeks before hitting the air. So far, I haven't been affected, and so, haven't cared about the striking writers. But, if they hold up my fave soaps, I'm going to be pissed!

Anything that depends on a writer in Hollywood will be affected. Soaps, talk shows, game shows, dramas, comedies, etc.

It will not affect the Soaps until probably after the beginning of the year. You can check TVguide.com for a full list of shows and how they are affected by the strike.
