His name is pronounced FARVE and spelled Favre. Gotta understand, he's from Louisiana, as in a lot of creole and french names. His name is an american pronunciation of a French name. The r isn't in front in the absolute correct way to say it, but the French swallow their r's so its the closest we can come with our ( american english ) natural pronunciation pattern.

It's dialectal pronunciation. If you are from his region of the country Louisiana I believe you would know how to pronounce his surname correctly which I'm assuming is of Cajun origin. When a surname is pronounced by people from another region of the country as a whole it loses its correct pronunciation to the generic literal English pronunciation. It's like when Newt Gingrich's(the former Speaker of the House and pundit) surname Ging-rich instead Gingrick which is the proper Pennsylvania German pronunciation. )Newt grew up in Pa. and transplanted to Georgia later.)

Well, let's see.
Brett Favre has always stated that the given pronunciation of his surname is exactly how people pronounce it on television.
So it shouldn't annoy you because it IS correct.
(Proof: All you have to do is listen to him pronounce his name on NBC if the Pack get lucky and get another Sunday Night Football game this season.)

It is truly pronounced Brett "Far-ve." A pronounciation of a name/word doesn't have to be exactly how it is spelled.

Why should it annoy you, it's not your name. I went to school with someone who's last name was LeFebvre (pronounced LeFever)
