i think its called a proper fraction ro something, how would you solve that...thanks

that is equal to

(4 into 2 plus 1) upon 4

= 9/4

=2.25.

if the fraction is written as

A N/D

the formula to solve it can be stated as

[ (D * A) + N] / D

in case where it is easy to know the value of N/D like in this case ( 1/4 = .25) it is very easy to calculate but in cases like N/D is say 9/31, it is easier to solve using the formula

9/4 You get it by taking the whole number in front of the fraction and multiplying it by the denominator and then adding that to the numerator and that becomes the new numerator. 2x4=8, 8+1=9 then you get 9/4.

2.25 or 9/4

Just knowing that 1/4 = .25 is really the easiest way of solving that.

look cut it like this you have 2 so 2=2 and 1\4=.25
so you have 2.25.
