if there is one key advice for me mooting (mock trail) what would it be

take a deep breath and take your time

for judicial intervention - take your time ... something that takes longer to think is better than something that blurts out the mouth and makes no sense

If you're talking about Moot Court - it is all about presentation. Poise & Candor speak volumes in such competitions. Also, keep in mind the basic rules of evidence & make your arguments accordingly. Lay careful foundations for all statements & articles of evidence introduced. Keep in mind the "Golden Rule" - never ask the Jury to step into the shoes of the defendant & never tell the Jury how YOU feel. (That is the ONLY thing that is objectionable in an opening argument.)
