Saying, "I like it that way," actually means, "I'm too lazy or overwhelmed by the mess to clean it up, but I'm 'independent' and don't want you to touch "my" stuff, so please leave me alone."

When things are on the floor and out of place constantly, it's typically laziness. A little mess (a pile of books on the counter, for example) can be "artsy," but clothes everywhere and nothing put away is just unnecessary chaos.

Some people say it is "easier to find things" when it is all on the floor but really if you don't like cleaning I suggest organizing things, not just cleaning it up. It does take awhile depending on the size of the mess but if you put everything back right when you finish using it things will never get out of place and you will never have to clean again!

It is all your comfort zone. If you are comfortable like that then let is be messy. My sister is a newlywed and her and her husband just throw their clothes on the floor. Their living room and the rest of their apartment is very clean. If you are comfortable with a messy room then other people will get over it. Do what you want.

Some people just like to have a messy room.... If they are old enough to clean up after themselves then let them just keep the door closed... I wouldn't worry about it...

However, some people just don't want to clean up after themselves and live in filthy conditions.. That's a little different.. Like leaving food/drinks in their room GROSS ! I would draw the line... I know sometimes I don't like to put my clean clothing away so it sits in laundry baskets for awhile then I get sick of looking at it... That's just me... Everyone is different... Good luck

As I do with a lot of these questions, every day questions can be answered by an appeal to the bible. It says Cleanliness is next to godliness. To have things clean and organised, invites the spirit into your home, where jesus can come and stay with you. Cleaning is a life long pursuit, a person will feel better when things are in their place. And the spirit will be with them.

its totally okay. i have stuff scattered on the floor, and my backpack resembles a garbage dump, but i like it like that.
obv, there's a point where you should clean up, like when things move in your room, but you dont have pets, or things start growing on your stuff.
but having some clothes on the floor, and a few papers scattered isn't that big of a deal.

I used to worry about cleaning my daughter's room, and got sick & tired of doing it too! I eventually just shut the door and ignored it! She is now living on her own and it is just amazing how clean & tidy everything is now that it is her place!
Good Luck there is hope!

To each there own,one persons mess is another persons treasure. P.S. Don't ever let anybody CLAM on you again, that's a claim I live by.

To each his own. People are different. That's just how it is. I personally think that it's not cool to have a messy place but that's just me.

If they want to live in a mess, then let them.

Ignore the mess and they will realise that they will have to clear the mess themselves and not have someone to do it for them all the time.
