I HAVE to make a comment on Cleopatra! She was NOT beautiful at all!

There are MANY statues of her, busts of her head, and coins with her image on. She was hook nosed, thick necked, thin lipped, and had a strong masculine jaw.

She was also inbred, the Ptolemaic Greek rulers of Egypt (of which Cleopatra was the last) were in the habit of marrying their own family members...inbreds are rarely attractive.

Most of the famous women from the past werent that attractive, their PR often made them out to be!

Boedicea, Semiramis of Assyria, Zenobia of Aramea/Palmyra, Ealizabeth 1 etc etc wrre all quite ugly when u look into it!

You'd have to go for someone this last hundred years or so, where we have photographic PROOF of their looks.

Probably Nicky Hurcombe.

For everybody who is saying Cleopatra VII (the well known one) you are wrong!
She was a very plain women, with chubby checks which is a trait that was known of the Ptolmeys. She wasn't even Egyptian- rather Greek.
She had some good features obsviously since she was very popular amoungest the powerful men- but they were drawn to her intellgence rather then her looks, and also, would you sleep with somebody (if you were power hungry) the controlled one of the wealthest countries ever? I'd think so.

Anyways, past all that, I would not say Cleopatra (If you wanna go Egypitan try Beatrice VI she was a very pretty girl, half sister of Cleopatra)

Helen of Troy is rumored to be the most beautiful- I would have to agree :)

That would be almost impossible to answer what was beautiful in the pre 18th century is called fat now , in fact the further you go back in history fashion for beauty changes quite dramatically , the ancient Greeks loved woman with very wide hips , in the 12th and 13th century rolls of excess fat was considered beautiful . so i guess its what you fancy
is in the eye of the beholder

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I would have to say Helen of Troy has the best record (an entire war.) Plus she has an excellent name! =]
