To fall into the ridioulous trap of "Black Friday" and get up at absurdly early hours to go stand in line to get those "special one say only sale" items, the marketing people lure you... Ever really notice how many "biggest sale of the year" "one day only" "only til 11:00am, there are throughout the year anyway???? Why not buy these "specials" thorugh out the year and not have the mad dash at the holidays, throw the retailers off the scent....hahaha.

Just short and simple answers, just wondering how many did it that;s all

I would rather shave my head with a cheese grater while chewing on tin foil, than get up at 4am to go shopping.

Shops are not in the business of being generous. The stuff in the sales comes under 3 categories:

1) Stock they can't shift. It comes out of the stock room every year. If no-one wants it, do you really want to buy it even at 90% off?

2) Stuff that's suddenly gone out of fashion or out of season. Yes you can buy cheap sunglasses in September - but they'll be so last year when you come to wear them.

3) Cheap tat they've bought in just for the sale. You can buy that on eBay all the year round.

Buy stuff because you want to buy it - not because someone wants to sell it.

I never go to the sales at Xmas/New Year because as you say there are sales throughout the year & I hate the ridiculous bunfight aspect of it, lol. Posh ladies in Next can be downright vicious when there's a bargain to be had!

Not me.....I got roped into doing that whole Black Friday thing once....and only once. Those people are seriously nuts.....

I realized I was truly over my head when I saw two women at Best Buy. The one asked the other "Did you see where they have those portable DVD players?" and the other woman said "No. And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you until I get mine."

Barking lunatics, the whole lot of them.

I am not going this year but I would like to go once just to experience it. I have not heard too many good things about the day though.

I don't mess with Black Friday, I never really need anything and just end up wasting my money.
