In the past the reporting and debate has been almost exclusively about who did or didn't break the law, who leaked first, would anyone be indicted, tried, serve jail time or be pardoned, etc. But very little coverage or debate on the act itself-i.e., the outing of a covert (covert when outed by the way) agent working on WMD issues, specifically Iraq. No where near enough effort has been directed toward recognition that those involved (Cheney, Rove and Libby at the least, and possibly Bush, himself) commited acts, possibly treasonous, that compromised our national security and that they did so purely for political vendetta reasons.

Hey, vtjames, do about 30 secs of googling and you will find absolute documentation that she WAS COVERT when outed-confirmed by General Heyen, CIA director and Patrick Fitzgerald, special procecutor.

And the Select Committe did no such thing. That false claim was in a footnote to the report written by 3 Republican senators.

I doubt it. This is clear cut treason but Americans aren't reacting like you would expect in the land of the free. People react ideology first. Conservatives Bush apologists I should say, luckily a lot of conservatives no longer support this inept administration, but still a very big group of conservatives choose loyalty to Bush over loyalty to America! They still support him and they deny reality and betray everything America should stand for in the process.

Treason is an impeachable offense but no high ranking politician from any of the parties is pushing even an investigation. Nice effort by Kucinich but he's so out of the mainstream which says more about the American mainstream than about the guy BTW but he is out of the mainstream.
That are the facts. Treason in the highest branches of government but for most Americans it's just another day. That's why I'm not very optimistic about the true story getting out

The two Senators who would be most likely to draw media attention to it happen to be running for President right now and Iowa might not look fondly on them for making a "useless scandal" their point of contention.

However- this is BIG. One of Bush's klan has flipped on him and will be publishing his tell all book in April... perfect timing.
And we have not heard the last of Valeriegate.

The GOP will most certainly come under fire for this before November even if a trial is far off on the horizon.
Keep in mind, what Bush is being accused of is a Felony - it does not need to be pursued while he is in office as an Impeachment.

Be patient.

Nothing will change. Bush is already the most lying, criminal president we've ever had. But the entire ruling elite are complicit in the fascist agenda of Bush/Cheney and the Republicans. This includes the Democrats and the media, without whose cooperation the entire Bush agenda of war abroad and repression at home would not have been possible.

It sure looks like treason to out a CIA agent. Whether they are in you party or not they still need to be protected.

Read the transcripts. Valerie Plame committed perjury. In her testimony in court, under oath, she claimed she never recommended her husband for the Nigerian mission. The defense attorneys entered into evidence memo's in her own hand writing recommending her husband. Once someone commits perjury, all their testimony must be consider suspect.

I doubt it. The fat cats want to keep things quiet and focus on the election. Basically they want to get their next puppet in the white house.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's nice to read that something we suspected all along (Bush and Cheney being involved in her outing), has finally come to light. What they did was inexcusable. Where and what will their consequences be? I'd be surprise if there were any. It's sickening.

She was NOT covert at the time for crying out loud. Also, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence refuted Wilson's version of the Niger trip as well as Plame's assertion that she didnt recommend him. They are liars of the worst kind.\\

Claiming otherwise doesn't change the facts my friend.

It takes not only bravery, but mental maturity to admit ones wrong-doings, and I don't see any of that in the names you fore-mentioned ! Same old finger-pointing denial,I suspect! wouldn't it be great to see the attorney general do his job and file criminal charges though(Felony)Hahahaha Yeah! Right !

Sorry, but Valerie wasn't covert. Even Fitzgerald admits it. She hadn't been covert for quite a few years.

Leave it to liberals to distort the facts to smear anyone who disagrees.

How about Plame lying about her role in getting her partisan husband assigned to a project where he lied about it's results.
