I agree with the answerer who said that the Angels would have to trade Kendrick and Saunders plus to get Cabrera. As an aside, I think they would start Kotchman, who is solid defensively, over Morales at first base. Figgins has never been a permanent shortstop. He has played second and third for stretches, but do you really see him as a shortstop? And maybe they got Hunter is because they figure on losing Matthews to a drug suspension. Also, your Santana is Ervin Santana, the man who can't win road games, not former Cy Young winner Johan Santana, right?
I am prejudiced, but I still would pick the Red Sox to beat them in the playoffs.

So how do they get and cabrera without giving up some of their players? Even without those 2 players the angels will have 1 of the better teams next year. Kendrick will be traded if they get Cabrera so you can switch Figgins to 2b. Kendrick is a terrible 2b so tradeing him would actualy help the angels. Aybar will be their ss who is good defensively so that will give the angels a #9 hitter. So trade kendrick, sanders and woods for cabrera and the angels would have a top 3 team.

Well, you assuming that we'll get Cabrera without having to give away Kendrick and/or Saunders. The Marlins seem to really want both guys included in any trade. But if we could get Cabrera for guys like Brandon Wood, Nick Adenhart, and Willits then we'd definately be the team to beat.

Not to be obnoxious but the Angels have not had near the off season that the Yankees have had. And Boston has yet to be reckoned with in that area also. So in answer to your question, the Angels would be the team to beat if New York and Boston weren't in the AL.

You haven't even got Cabrera yet. Don't speak to soon. It is unlikely the Angels are the team to beat, having good players doesn't mean you will always win. Look at the Yankees.

You don't have Cabrera yet. And just adding Hunter and Garland does not make them better than the Red Sox.
They are definitely the favorite in the AL West again, though.

Since the Red Sox are the current World Series Champions, I'd say they are the team to beat.

The Angels should once again be one of the three or four elite teams next year as they were this year. This will occur with or without Cabrera and/or Santana playing for them next year. With Cabrera and/or Santana they would look to me to be the best.
