How can I stop my friend being hurt?

Basically my friend Danny really likes this girl Kirsty who plans to use him for his money.

She never showed any interest in him before and shot him down before until she found out that he's minted. She started talking about how Christmas is coming up and she really wants a new stereo.

How can I tell him without upsetting him and is there anything I could say to this Kirsty? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies so far. Seems everyone's in favour of me telling him. I think next time they'll both be around is Monday night when we're all out at this club. No doubt she'll be all over him.

Should I get my word in before then or Monday night?

I don't know that you can tell him without upsetting him, but you should just tell him exactly what you have seen and believe. He may get angry or upset with you, and he may not listen. If he is a true friend he won't stay mad at you long. If it hurts his feelings to hear this about Kirsty, then, better now than later. If he doesn't believe you and finds out the hard way, he's learned a powerful lesson. You will have done your best.

He'll be upset no matter what you say, and if he really likes this girl, he'll probably ignore you anyways or think you're jealous or trying to break up their "close" relationship.
poor him. there isn't much you can do except to be a good friend, and when he finds out (which he definitely will), stay supportive or just try to help him forget. if you tell him and he keeps dating her, it'll be like an "I told you so"-type thing, and he'll feel embarrassed.
although maybe he isn't being used, she just had a change of heart? not likely, but possible.
try to talk to her, but don't be confrontational. ask her, for instance, what she sees in Danny, why she's dating him... also if you're not afraid of being corny/cheesy, tell her that if he's hurt because of her, you'll blow her brains out. she might get scared off.

Omg thats just pathetic from her no wonder guys get so upset over certain girls.Obviously you dont want your freind to get hurt but if you really care about him tell him what she is planning on doing.Tell him the truth.

Ok if your friend is truly your friend and won't try to insinuate that you want her for yourself i believe that he will take your word for it. But i feel that if he thinks that you are being jealous and just doesn't want to hear what you have to say then you need to let him find out the hard way.

then ask him , Tell me danny , Why the heck do you think what you are doing right now with her is in any way similar to what these people are doing "

Sadly, there is little you can do to protect him. People have to learn about users the hard way. You can tell him that he should not spend much money on girl he's never dated.

You are just going to have to tell him what you think her motivation is, but be prepared for him to continue to play the fool; sometimes we all play the fool. As for her, confront her and let her know how you feel. That just might stop her.

Tell him what kind of person she is. It's better to be by yourself than be with somebody who's just going to use you. The price is too high. He'll find somebody who will love him for what he is, not what he has.
