Well what can I say? The government putting millions of us at risk of Identity theft= I cannot get over how they could have 'lost' all this financial information while apparently sending it internally to another office. Now they are blaiming an Junior for it. What about how rubbish the whole system is since Gordon Brown took over from Blair. How will they protect us now? it makes me mad what do you think?

Sir John Bourn, head of the National Audit Office, said decisions were made at a higher level and that the NAO asked for the data be "desensitised" but this was rejected on grounds of expense. Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs sent 25m records on two unencrypted CDs three times; the second envelope never arrived at the National Audit Office and is still missing.
so 1 and 3 arrived?

Apparently, the latest that's leaked out is that a "senior civil servant" agreed to the sending of the data. I suppose there'll be a bit more coming out of the woodwork over the following days . . .

Whatever, it's downright ludicrous, if it wasn't so dangerous it would be hysterical.

Seems to me that it doesn't matter what flavour of government's in power, the civil service will go on doing things its own (inept) way.

In many cases people would have lost their job, been named and shamed or had legal action taken against them. It shows just how inefficient the department responsible is and also highlights how that those responsible are not prepared to take responsibility by their disgusting attempt to blame an office junior. Someone is responsible for the office junior! Is he or she prepared to accept some blame?

Now imagine if they only had called that election instead of wimping out. We would have got rid of the lot of them.

Make sure you vote Labour out in the next election before we stop teaching English within our schools.
