Listen to what Goonern014 is saying. He's right.
In what other issue of your life would you accept what the government says, before you had considered the evidence from boith sides?
If the government believed and acted themselves about what they want us to believe and how they want us to act, then the government would not allow the expansion of airports, and it would tax aviation fuel to a similar extent as it taxes petrol used by cars.
The answer is simple; it knows that it can take motorists for a ride by increasing petrol taxes. It preaches The Gospel of Man's Contibution to Global Warming as if it was true, and it knows that there are enough gullible people in the UK to believe its lies. If the gullible believe the lies, then in spite of its poor traffic management planning the government does not have to solve the traffic congestion crisis by positive measures like improving public transport, but gets away with negative measures like taxing the motorist without spending the tax revenue raised on effective positive measures.
The frequent popular published information about global warming assume that scientists funded by the government have the monopoly of the "truth." It is often claimed that "most scientists" support the theory of man-induced global warming. Then name them all - easily done, and state their credentials and their sources of funding. He who pays the piper calls the tune. The scientists who disagree with the theory of man-induced global warming, are not funded. If you were a scientist and wanted funding which therory would you support?
"Myth: 2,500 of the world's leading scientists agree that human-induced global warming is underway.
Fact: Contrary to numerous press reports, there has never been a group of 2,500 scientists claiming that human-induced global warming is underway. Several thousand people did endorse the findings of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) 1995 report that found a "discernable" human influence on climate change. But most of these endorsers were not scientists, but social scientists, economists, public relations experts and government functionaries. In fact, no more than 100 climate scientists are listed among the IPCC report's signers. Even fewer climate scientists would have been listed as endorsers of the report, however, if they had known their views were going to be misrepresented. Significant changes were made to the report after these scientists endorsed it." (source: http://www.nationalcenter.org/GWFactSheet.html )
If human activity is the main source of global warming then why is it that Mars, Pluto, Jupiter and other planets in our solar system are also heating up? Mars is warming up faster than the Earth. Computer models indicate that surface air temperatures on the Red Planet increased by 0.65 C (1.17 F) from the 1970s to the 1990s.
By comparison, the average temperature of Earth increased by 0.75 C (1.33 F) over the last century.
Some scientists speculate that a change in the sun’s activity is the common thread linking all these warming events across the whole solar system.

No you can't, because the government can't decide whether it's more important to protect the environment or sustain a healthy economy and it's confusing them and us!
I would happily make an effort to be green if it was realistically possible to do. But I am given no reliable or affordable alternative to my car, my council doesn't recycle and the only way I can use renewable energy is by building a windmill in my garden!
To protect the environment we need international shifts in attitudes and lifestyles. This cannot be done by relying on individuals, so will only be achieved through consistent environmental policies and laws.
Shame this is something the government are still failing to get through their heads!
Edit:
Baz cymraeg, holes in a theory don't prove it wrong. The fact is nobody knows for certain whether global warming is human induced. So surely, shouldn't we at least take preventative measures and prepare for the worst, rather than throwing the theory out the window and hoping for the best?

For starters climate change has nothing to do with carbon emissions , its a natural occurance like in the early 80's when they were going on about global cooling and how now we would be living in an iceage .
for this reason they cant be trusted because there using global warming to create a global tax and also as another vehicle towards there world government .
i beleive we should save energy watch what we waste etc to reduce polution but to use armagedon as an excuse is totally wrong and thats what people that have jumped on the bandwagon are doing , most have just fallen for the propaganga totally .

No unable to trust Gordon and his crew.
Carbon emissions........They do not have a clue what these are.
Not just Heathrow;big government cars for ministers;members of Parliament flying worldwide to meet other politicians when much could be achieved by using Internet conferencing.
It is a joke.
RECYCLE HOME WASTE !
This now creates even more carbon emissions!

I think if it was a sort of Bush-like-admin i wouldn't trust carbon emissions...but talking bout a government that was pioneer in exposing the economic crisis global warming would cause, and taking the lead in the G-8 (with Angela Merkel's Germany) towards a reduction in carbon emissions...i would sort of trust them...although you should always try to contrast many sources before being convinced...media EVER is biased...so try to compare this data with other...maybe from greenpeace or green groups...definitely not from bush style groups depending on petrol....

It's an almight scam based on raising taxes yet again. Look at Al Gore, apparently he is famous for having every light on in his very large houses!
It's a good wheeze for scaring us, punishing us and taxing us. That's all.
Have you noticed that it's everyone else's 'carbon emissions' that exercises what passes for their brains? It's never their own.

You've got it figured out.
Government has been taken over by ManBearPig and must be stopped.
Unfortunately, somebody is making money off this scam and it isn't us. Although it is our money....
