A loss to buffalo is a thing to be ashamed of, but going down 3-0 in the first period is even worse, after that game, i think the sens should be ashamed to go pick up their paycheque's.

But my question is: Are the senators finally cooling down, they were all high and mighty, and now they lost to the leafs, AND buffalo. If i was Murray i would be on hightail looking who's interested in a goaltender like Emery and see what he can get in return to boost his other lines.

Do you think Emery should be traded? Gerber is defenetly number 1 material.

two those first three losers- my point was, was they are hitting a slump.

This is mostly motivated by Nick Kypreos' ideas about how Emery SHOULD be traded from the senators.

And im starting to look at the senators like a team without much depth, because they have the best first line in the league with Heatley, spezza, and Alfy, but they are the only ones producing ENOUGH points to be a great team, and Paddock is trying to split them up to give the team depth, but its not working.

First. Sens played only 5 road games in their first 20. They are 1 and 2 on the current road trip. They play the bulk of their games between now and Christmas on the road. If the Sens are a serious powerhouse, they'll show it in the next 6 weeks.
In all 4 Sens losses so far they have been physically beaten up. I think there's enough video out now for teams to know what to do.
As far as Gerber is concerned, I think the Sens want scoring for their second unit and Emery is most likely to be the guy they deal. The club felt he held them hostage on his new contract deal and asked for an awful lot of dough for a guy with one good season under his belt.
Rumours say Sens and Kings are talking.
BTW - Sabres had a similar start last year but also cooled off after that. I expect about the same from the Sens this year. Injuries will take a toll and clubs will adjust. It's a long grind ahead.

I think the Sens are coming down to earth in a sense. By that I mean, they are not the Montreal Canadiens of 1976-77 when they only lost 8 times (which some Ottawa jouranlists were trying to compare them). Quite simply, the Sens are a great team, who will finish "around" the top of the league in points like they have most of the past decade.

In terms of Emery, clearly both goalies have shown their ability to be solid starting goaltenders, so looking into a trade would be a smart idea, especially when they are so jammed for cap space next year after all their signings.

And you Sens fans who visciously responded to this question as if someone had actually said something negative about your "perfect" hockey team, its a good question, and an Emery or Gerber trade would be smart for their future.

Buffalo is finding itself, recovering from a terrible off season, and they played the crap out of the Sens. The final score should have been 6-3 with the open net misses. Are they cooling down? Well, as a Sabres fan who is honest, no, the Sens are going to be what the Sabres were last year, only I feel the Sens will will the cup. They are awesome, and we just a bit off last night, didn't lay the body on as they should have to. I would trade Emery because he is/will become a distraction as he wants to "be the man," and this year he isn't.

I was at the Sens game last night and up until late in the second they looked terrible against the Sabres.
I think trading Emery would be a great idea. I personally would say he was the blame for majority of the loss. That second goal that he let in was garbage. I could have saved that.
Give him to a team in desperate need of a goalie and hopefully get a decent player or draft pick in return.

EMERY, EMERY, EMERY!!! I loved chanting that at the game

LETS GO BUFFALO!

What is your problem, eh? The Sens have themselvs a tremendous team, they will be there at the end of the season, OK? Is the word "slump" not in your dictionary? Every team, no matter how great they are, throws in the occasional stinker of a game (or two, or three) now and again. The regular season is just too long for it NOT to happen. How do you think us Pittsburgh Steeler fans feel about losing to the New York Freakin' Jets last week?

Patience, my North of the Border Friend.....your Sens are going to have a tremendous season....and Emery is a solid NHL goaltender. Keep the faith, baby.

The problem with the Senators might be within the managing. Ottawa needs to keep a certain set of lines instead of switching lines around every game. Consistency will be valuable to get wins.

I don't think the Senators are cooling down. They might be cocky, but a loss like this will just motivate them to start playing better. Emery has been disappointing, but I don't think that he should be traded (he was great last playoffs).

Buffalo did the same thing last year. Usually you gotta wait to see who's playing well in early March. The Wings did the same thing (although that was just Hasek giving up 9 goals in a span of 25 shots). But you can never tell. The Sens will be right there come playoff time. Especially if they play like they did in last years post season.

You didn't expect them to win 14 out of every 15 did you? Every team hits bumps in the road. Emery and Gerber have reversed roles from last year when Emery played well and Gerber stunk so they may wait for this to play out for awhile. Remember that when Carolina won the cup with Ward, Gerber was Carolina's #1 that year too.

HERE - HERE.
AS MUCH AS I HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO.....
I TOLD YOU SO.

I hate getting all sh!!ty about this, but since Sens fans are so quick to point out Leaf's woas, fair game I 'spose.
Leafs would probably take Emery off their hands, if the Sens throw in that Spezza kid, they could probably pry Raycroft out of Toronto. Emery would make an OK backup for Toskala.

As much as I hate Ottawa, with a severe passion mind you, its undeniable that they're a good team. I do think they got the wind knocked out of their sails, and I don't think the rest of the season is going to be as pretty as the begining was. I agree with the post above me, teams like Buffalo and Toronto are breaking out of the rut and this is going be a fierce season.

As far as Emery, he's a huge part of the reason why I hate the Sens, but I think he's like the rest of the team, cocky when he shouldn't be and its gonna come back to kick him in the ***...and if last night was any indicator of his future performances, "a nightmare" as RJ explained it, I'm gonna be laughing my head off come June.
