I am very sorry for your loss, I'm sure a number of things could have occurred. Something it ate, an infection, some underlying disease. =( maybe it didn't get fed enough, or get enough water..

I'm very sorry to hear about your turtle's death.

Old Age? Proper Nutrition? Calcium deficiency? Proper Reptile Lighting? Stable Water/Air Temperature?
These are the most common things I'd investigate.
If not, maybe a developed genetic issue or hard to diagnose disease or disorder. Can't be 100% unless autopsy done by actual vet.

Direct sunlight as an absolute requirement for the turtle health. Also inadequate diet is the number two cause of turtle death in captivity.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Was your turtle eating few days before and was he lethargic and sleeping all the time? This can help you determine the cause of its death.

Did you leave him on the radiator? Did you ever feed him?
