My new video cassette player won't work?

Question

We have a new tape player which was working very well one of my chidren put a different tape in and now that tape won't work nor any of the other ones ... just black and white fuzzy lines . Is there anything i can do ???? The Czech Republic where i am living at the moment take a month to repair anything

We have had this problem before with older tapes ..they look perfect but are definately bad and this one was a favourite that should have been thrown away like the othere we beleived to be

It is doubtful the tape was the problem. Kids do love to put crayons in the VCR slot though....

You may simply need to adjust the "sync" of the VCR (makes it run slightly slower or faster). See if there is a "sync" button or read the manual to find out how to adjust the speed of the VCR. Some VCRs to adjust sync you press two buttons simultaneously (play and Ch+ or Ch+ and Ch- etc.)
