To believe in curses, one has to believe they are, in fact, possible, which also means one has to have some form of understanding of how they came about and how they can be gotten rid of.
To say one can't be cursed by another but that one's life can be disrupted by the actions of another contradicts the premise. If you believe someone can screw with your life the old-fashioned way, why can't they do it some other way?
Also, curses are duration specific: in other words, once the conditions of the curse have been met, the curse will no longer be applicable. So it is entirely possible to be cursed at one point in one's life and not be cursed at some later point.
The reason why most people don't believe in them is the simple fact that 1) it's difficult to prove one is 'cursed' 2) it's also difficult to prove the conditions of the curse (think of th Boston Red Sox curse) and what may or may not break it and 3) when the curse ends, most people automatically assume that there was no curse to begin with; kinda the same logic as saying one didn't have a cold since it eventually cleared up.
So yes, I believe in curses, even if they never show up again. If someone sneezes, I don't pretend they don't have something wrong with them.

Come on, how dumb can you be? Its superstition, mind games. Its as crazy to believe that you can be cursed as it is do make choices based on your horoscope.

Of course, they are just the opposite of blessings. These though are things that only have power over you if you believe in them.
