When the news station does that it must be so embarrassing for those people. It gets even worse when they try to show their faces, or talk with them about eating there.

I have worked in a soup kitchen before. That's why I feel this way.

They should at least be left with their dignity!

I think that's the least of their worries - do they have televisions & DVR's to capture their humiliation and do they care? I'd be more concerned for where I was going to live, work, or basically function and survive as a human being in the very near future. Honestly, what bothers me is people are only generous at Christmas and Thanksgiving. The homeless don't just disappear after the holidays. In fact, January thru March is particularly cold and brutal in the northeast. The fact that helping homeless people is popular during the holidays bothers me. Don't pretend to care now when you don't on a daily basis.

Yes, I think the news crews should let the homeless eat in peace during holidays.

I saw a documentary recently where the kitchen manager said they get lots of people wanting to volunteer to serve the meals, and ... get this ... that no volunteer has ever stayed to help clean up!

I think the news crews should film that portion of the day, and show some of the volunteers exiting the building, leaving dirty dishes, tables and floors.

i can visualize both sides of this question, but to see folks that need a meal actually getting to eat is a joy! and i can understand the media side but this shows all the food banks, shelters and the contributations made are actually being given to those in need, and not sold or giving for money to make a profit for just 1 shyster.. so in giveing to help others makes for a very Happy Thanksgiving! and remeber but by grace we all could be there also.. so be thankfull for what we have, what we can do, and lets all make this 3rd rock from the sun a better place for us all.. as this is it there's not another .. now pass down the gravy will ya?? HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! to everyone!!

It's to make the rest of us feel better to think the homeless people get to eat well at least twice a year. The rest of the year most of us ignore their plight and accuse them of actually wanting to live on the street, as if anyone really preferred the street to a warm home.

There's no shame in eating in a homeless shelter. It's a blessing that there are people who care enough to have a place for people who need help. It reminds me to continue making warm hats, gloves, and scarves to donate. It also makes me realize how blessed I am!

yes, it is horrible. it is a show at the cost of someone who is temporarily (hopefully) down on their luck that day.

when you give, do so without letting your left hand knowing what your right hand is doing.

THANK YOU FOR THAT AWARENESS. i was grateful, until i had to be shamed.
