On a site about Halloween decorations there were links to spooky pictures to print off, one of them was of a civil war era teenage boy with some fingers missing, here's the link http://members.tripod.com/~Motomom/fingerless.jpg
My bf says its obvious that his fingers are inside his jacket but I'm not so sure, cos there's no opening there where he coulda slipped the fingers inside, and also it looks like not only the fingers but part of the hand is missing. What do you think, real or fake?
(The creepy thing is that boy looks alot like my friend's lil brother, who is currently trying to join the army, freaky!)

it'd be really interesting to see if anyone knows the original origin of this photo, as like I said it was just amongst a load of other photos on a website which also included photos on how this family decorate their house each yr for halloween, so the site I found it had no info about its origin

it's possible that you can get your fingers cut off. it's nothing out of this world

Well, I agree with you. There isn't a slot for his fingers to go inside his jacket. And by the looks of it, his fingers and part of his hand is missing.
Although it looks creepy, I still can't tell if it is a true photo or not. I've seen it floating around the net though...

It's a real photo. He was obviously shot in the hand, which mangled his lower 3 fingers on his right hand. The doctor amputated that portion of the hand to save his trigger finger. That's why he's showing off his hand...he's saying, "I can still shoot!".
His hand appears thinner and paler because it was most likely contained in a cast or bandages for several weeks. If you've ever removed your hand/arm from a cast...it looks really bizarre for the first week or two until the color comes back into it and you've exercised it enough to get back some more muscle tone again.

I think it's real, it's not just his fingers that are missing it's also part of the hand too, so he wouldn't be able to hide the fingers and knuckles in his jacket, plus in wars people do loose bits!
It is creepy though, the guy seems to be staring at you....

I believe it could be very genuine. I see war injuries all the time and just a few fingers missing is minor.

It could easily be real. People lose fingers, esp. in times of violence.
But someone could of fakes it too, there's no definitive way to prove it unless your the hoaxer or the one who took the picture (if it were to be real).

he defiantly isn't hiding his fingers inside his jacket, because you can tell that there is a chunk missing from his hand as well, but it doesn't look that real, the image altogether looks kind of fake, its probably been photo shopped. x
