Something is really wrong with my brakes. Horrible grinding noise and thumping sound. My brake pedal is all sorts of messed up when I press down on it. Weird thing is that the problem came out of nowhere. It wasn't something that I kept putting off and got bad as a result. I feels like my back wheel is going to fall off.

That is a hard question to answer because it depends on ALL the parts to make it work again.. maybe just brake pads (hope for this) or if you have a damaged rotor on any wheel then it will start to cost more and so on........ I would take it to 2 or three shops and get estimates it is a relatively simple job but you want it done right too.

Depends on what you define as 'complete' and what shop you take it too. If all it needs is pads, rotors turned and fluid flushed/bled, then not so much. However if rotors and/or calipers need replacing it can get very expensive. A shop which specializes in brake jobs may be a bit cheaper than a standard shop or the dealer due to the fact that they do more of them so don't waste much time, and time is indeed money.

Rotors and calipers up front. Drums in back, You could spend $1000 to fix this if everything is shot.

More likely your looking at $300 for a turn and pad job.

it sounds like the brake pads have worn down to the metal you will need new brake pads and probably a new disk as well, about £100
