Fleas jump to any hairy thing. All they want is a body that they can suck blood from. They prefer hairy animals though.
One way you can make fleas go away from any animal is make them eat garlic. Just a few pieces should work. Fleas hate garlic and when it gets into your pets bloodstream they won't want it anymore.

Yes, fleas will jump ontp anything with fur. It is much harder to get fleas off of a horse, though. If the animals have fleas then I would suggest to keep them away fro your horse. As you know, your horse is much bigger than a dog or cat, and the fur is not always free like the cat's or dog's is.

any animal can experience fleas... and it can come from another animal or where they've been (fields, tall grass...) even people can 'transport' fleas...

yeah, they can. my horse tends to get ticks though. and those are from sheep.
