THEY WANT TO EMULATE THE FAILED SOCIALIST POLICIES OF EUROPE. THE LEFT WANTS TO RUN YOUR LIFE NO MATTER WHAT. THEY THINK THEY KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR YOU.

why is the right constantly beleaguering the left about actions and laws that began with them? I live in NY state and I will tell you that before we became a quasi Red state, that is except for lower NY ... we enjoyed a much more free and lower Taxed life style, Post Reaganomics and the Conservative revolution (gag-me) we have become the epitome of over bureaucracy and wasteful tail chasing, our budget consistently runs over time and is never enough and yearly we go deeper into debt....
That ain't a Nanny Policy that's the fat cats doing their darnedest.

I am not on the extreme left but I do have to agree with you some. I do believe in being self-reliant and only those whom are truly in need ought to be help. True socialism in this country would be a terrible thing. This giving away to every person who cross the boarder and people who don't want to take some responsibility for themselves makes America weak and vulnerable.

In this Constitutionally guaranteed democratic republic, We the People are the government.
If We the People choose to rule ourselves with compassion and nurturing, what is your problem with it?
In my opinion, your problem is that you have been brainwashed into thinking that Fascism is preferable to self rule. That economic slavery to the elite is the natural order of things. That it is okay for the State to take control of a gender's bodies to force birth, but it is Socialist or Communist to guarantee every newborn Life and Liberty so they have an opportunity to pursue happiness.
It is a good business decision for We the People to guarantee food, water, shelter, healthcare and education to every one of our citizens.
Unfortunately, we are no longer a Constitutionally guaranteed democratic republic. We are, until further notice, a Serial Monarchy.

Why do those of the extreme right seem to look to the daddy state as a source of discipline and absolute obedience?

They see it as a safety net for everyone and think is a duty of us to protect those who for some reason find themselves in a disadvantageous position. All in all, they think humans can't make good choices for themselves so for the greater good we need a government to tell us what is right and wrong.

Because our nation is basically evil and needs to be changed so that all can be distributed more evenly. Because we are evil we will not do the right thing so they will do it for us weather we agree or not. Peace

It's funny, living in NYS all the 'nanny state' laws were done by Republicans. I personally, believe in more freedom.

Because they want your VOTES. They know by offering a lot of entitlements it lures minorities. Because the Democratic Talking point is this..."You can't solve your problems...so let me solve them for you"
In other words they want you to be dependent on them. That is how they stay in power. Its the oldest trick in the book. Hugo Chavez did it. Castro has done it. Saddam excelled in it.
