I was in the third grade at South City View Elementary, I remember my teacher Mrs Garfield being called to the office over the PA system. And i remember her vividly returning to class with tears in her eyes. She told us that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. And i remember her slumping to the floor and sobbing one by one we all went up and gave her a hug. It was a day i will always remember! And its the last time i ever hugged a teacher!

Lee Harvey Oswald may or may not have done it (modern forensic still is inconclusive). In any case, Oswald was pro-communism and defected to the Soviets in '59 and revealed information about the United States Marines since Oswald served 3 years. He became a soviet citizen and even married a Russian. He did however return to the United States. According to records, and even a confession, Oswald attempted to kill a US general. He supported the Cubans as well as contacting Soviet scouts. But Oswald a simply a disturbed man with paranoid views

I was in the first grade. My school was at the end of the flight line of Carswell Air Force base. We all turned out to see him board Air Force One for that short flight to Dallas. There was no announcement about the assassination. My parents told me on the way home.

I was a 17 and in 4th period English class when a friend of mine walked into the classroom and whispered something into the teachers ear. She looked at him and said,"you're lying." He had just told her the President had been shot. It was the beginning of one of the strangest weekend I can ever remember. People just shook their heads, talked in subdued voices with a look of disconnected disbelief. It was the saddest time I ever remember. "How could something like this happen in America." I must have heard that a 1000 times that week.

I was in fifth grade at St. Raymond's elementary school. Mother Superior, weird title, also known as the principle came into our classroom and announced President Kennedy had been shot. I can only say the feeling in the country was similar to nine-eleven, stunned disbelief mixed with utter horror and sorrow.

I was a junior in high school and was walking between classes when a classmate told me. I was stunned and I didn't believe her until a little later even though I knew she would never make anything like that up. I think one of my teachers made an announcement in the next class.
