I was driving with my sister today and slammed hard on the brakes. Could the seatbelt that tugged on her gut hurt the baby? Shes around 18 weeks......now I'm all paranoid, even though she says shes ok...

at 18 weeks the baby is still very little and is encased in a large volume of fluid, deliberalty to protect it, if she isnt having pain or bleeding im sure she will be ok..

my dog jumped on my tummy when i fell asleep on the sofa when i was 23 weeks pregnant and the midwife said exactly that too me, try not to worry too much, if she is concerened call the delivery suite or midwife for reassurance.

just so you know, you cna get seat belt attachments for pregnant women from halfords. they pull the seat belt down below the pelvis so if it happens again the pelvis takes the pressure and not the baby, think mine was about £19.99

Hey,

If shes not having any pains or anything then she should be fine. If she has any blood or pains then she should go see her dr immediatly.

My hubby slammed te brakes coz of maniacs driving into us aswell at the beginning of my pregnancy and im 36 weeks now!!!

Take care!

I wouldn't be worried, I'm sure she's okay. When she's in the car make sure she places the seat belt low on her hips, you know down below the belly, that way if this happens again you won't even have to worry.

If it caused damage she would be in pain, or having contractions.

its fine.
